Split Face
Half the face is white, half is colored.

Merle: Beautiful but Complex
Merle creates a marbled effect and can occur with any base color:
- Blue merle (on black)
- Red merle (on red/chocolate)
Important: Double merle breeding (merle x merle) can cause serious health issues including blindness and deafness.
Coat Types
Beyond color, Border Collies have two coat types:
- Rough coat: Long, flowing fur
- Smooth coat: Shorter, sleeker appearance
Both require regular grooming!
